LESSONS FROM ETA'S DEFEAT

OCTOBER 20-21TH 2023
IN PERSON

We will soon be carrying out a project in educational units on values for a society of peace (information and dates to be confirmed).

From the Isabel la Católica School of Government and Leadership (EGL) of the Faculty of Law, Business and Government of the Francisco de Vitoria University, it is a pleasure to collaborate with the Centre for the Global Common Good and invite you to participate in the program “Lessons from the Defeat of ETA”, which will take place on 20 and 21st of October in two locations: the Senate in Madrid and Vitoria (Basque Country).

The purpose of this programme is to provide a space for reflection and analysis on one of the most significant periods in Spain’s recent history: the defeat of ETA and the consolidation of the rule of law, with 4 talks in the Senate given by professionals in the field, followed by a trip to Vitoria to visit the Victims of Terrorism Memorial.

This last activity of the seminar is exclusively for UFV students selected through motivation letters sent to cbcg@ufv.es before the 19th of October 2023.

This event was a unique opportunity to analyse the challenges and lessons learnt from the defeat of ETA from multiple perspectives. We look forward to your participation and contribution to this important programme.

The activity goals

Highlighting the fundamental role of terrorism victims in civic resistance against terror, and their decisive role in defeating this scourge.

Valuing the anti-terrorism efforts of the State's security forces and bodies.

Keeping alive the memory of the victims and the demand for justice.

Demonstrating the importance of civic commitment by associations in delegitimizing terrorism.

Emphasizing the necessary unity of democrats in the fight against ETA terrorism and the effective policies resulting from consensus.
