11th International Schuman Students Congress (COIL)

From february 5th
to march 21st 2024

Project of personal leadership development and its connection with Robert Schuman’s political-resolution method and the basic principles of the European Union, based on the foundations of the Social Doctrine of the Church.

Join the 11th International Schuman Student Congress on Human Solidarity

The School of Government and Leadership in collaboration with the International Relations degree program offers 15 scholarships for participation and assistance in the COIL Project (Collaborative Online International Learning): a project of personal leadership based on the figure of Robert Schuman, “the Father of Europe,” and the conflict resolution-oriented founding principles of Europe. Students from La Pontificia Institute (ILP), International Relations and Political Philosophy, MBA and Political Philosophy, and Economics have participated in the project.

The activity has a weight of 2 ECTS credits that can be officially transferred as Complementary Training Activities (CTA).

This activity is jointly organized with
  • The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS)
  • Francisco de Vitoria University (UFV)
  • Management Education Research Institute of Delhi (MERI Group of Institutions).
What will you learn?
  • Competencies for personal leadership inspired by Robert Schuman, the father of Europe, and the profound link between personal leadership and European integration.
  • Universal principles of CST to achieve your goals and overcome major challenges.
  • Application of the Schuman method in addressing global problems and challenges.
  • Collaboration with international students from European and Indian backgrounds in Delhi.
What is the added value of this experience?

In groups, students from the School of Government and Leadership at Francisco de Vitoria University (UFV, Madrid, Spain) will have the opportunity to present solutions to current EU crises to a European audience at the Annual Schuman Student Congress. This event will also involve students from the Management Education & Research Institute (MERI, New Delhi, India).

Furthermore, our visits to The Hague, Metz, Scy-Chazèlles, and Luxembourg, following in Schuman’s footsteps, provide insight into the genesis of the European peace project.

WHO IS ROBERT SCHUMAN?

SUMMARY OF THE 2024 PROGRAM

February and March: 1 seminar and 1 workshop per week in ONLINE format (6 weeks: 12 meetings in total).

  • Mondays: 16:30-17:30 (February 6, 13, and 27; March 5, 12, 19)
  • Thursdays: 16:30-17:30 (February 8, 15, and 29; March 7, 14, 21)

After successfully completing the course, students will have substantially grown in online, international, intercultural, and interdisciplinary collaborative learning as such, and in particular, they will have enhanced their personal and social personality and will recognize the profound connection between personal leadership and the fundamental principles of the EU and beyond.

The module is somewhat related to all European Studies subjects, such as Personal Leadership Skills, Political Challenges, Facing European Challenges, Communication Skills and Intercultural Presentation.

The course will facilitate the student’s mobility and ability to work with ease in any (inter)national professional environment. It will help to develop innovative initiatives, contribute to the resolution of local, national, European and global problems and open up new horizons in a wide variety of contexts.

The intercultural and collaborative aspect will be present throughout the course, as students will get to know different aspects of the cultures of their fellow COIL students and will need to dynamically interact during seminars, in the break rooms and in the What’s App study groups. Also, the course content implies interculturality and inclusiveness!

Presentation at the 11th International Congress of Schuman Students in Human Solidarity and a reflective report on the COIL course and experiences.
